About
the Restaurant
Don't forget to have a look at the restaurant
in our photo
gallery.
Why G&T's? They're the initials of the two owners,
Marc
Guidicelli and Owen
Telford who are also aiming to serve the best gin and tonics
in town as well as superbly cooked food in a friendly atmosphere.
The two men, from France and Northern Ireland, met at the New Bath
Hotel, Matlock Bath where they worked together for 5 years.
Owen is the restaurant's chef, he says: "Our focus is on providing
quality food using local produce and a local butcher. Dishes range
from black pudding and lamb's liver to chicken cooked 'en paupiette'
with thyme, white wine and mushrooms. For an exotic touch why not
try king prawns with chilli and ginger. The menu also includes interesting
vegetarian options." See some more examples of the dishes and
wines served on the menu
page.
Marc and Owen feel that in the intimate atmosphere of G&T's
they can provide that all important personal touch to both the dishes
they serve and the service they give.

| Owen
Telford...
Owen, born in Northern Ireland, moved to England to study at University
in Sheffield. Owen trained as a chef and hotel manager for the Forte
group and has worked in various top Forte hotels, including Edinburgh,
before settling in Derbyshire and the New Bath Hotel. Owen met Marc
while working at the New Bath Hotel where they agreed to go into
partnership and open their own restaurant in Matlock. Owen says
"we wanted to offer the intimate and friendly atmosphere that
is sometimes difficult to achieve in a large hotel while retaining
the highest quality food prepared to the the best standards."

Marc
Guidicelli...

|
|
| Marc grew
up in south west France, famous for its fois gras, canard and fine
wines so its not surprising he developed a taste for great quality
food and wine. Marc moved to Paris to develop his knowledge of good
food and fantastic service and worked in many top Paris restaurants.
Marc has worked in the Restaurant Lucas Carton a 3 Michelin Star
restaurant, as Maitre d'Hotel at Le Bristol Hotel a five star hotel
with a luxurious restaurant also with a Michelin star, and as Assistant
Director at Rue Balzac on the Champs Elysees, an exclusive modern
restaurant owned by popular chef Michel Rostand and musician Johnny
Halliday.
Marc then moved to the UK and became operations manager at the
4 star Forte Swan Hotel in Lavenham. He says "I fell in love
with Derbyshire on my first visit and jumped at the chance to move
here at the New Bath Hotel". Marc and Owen found that they
worked well together and formed a business partnership and opened
G&T's in September 2002.
